ATP’s Shred for the Cup Series kicked off its 8th season with the Rail Jam.
If you are at all familiar with the SFTC Series, you know that the weather for the events is always a fun grab bag of anything from double-digit negative windchills and snow, to sunny skies and warm spring temps. Sunday fell somewhere in between, with sprinkles in the morning, low hanging clouds all day, and seasonal temperatures. Precipitation did stop by mid-morning, just in time for warm-ups and the Jam, with the overall calm weather making for a great session. Over 50 competitors showed up ready to destroy some rails!
The Rail Jam setup was built with lap-ability in mind, so riders could concentrate on dialing in tricks instead of waiting in a lift line or hiking up the mountain. Feature Options were available for all ability levels and included a 30’ Down Flat Down Rail, a 21’ Down Handrail, a 20’ Flat Mailbox, and our 16’ Rainbow Box. Beginner through advanced riders took full advantage from start to end. Each division was given a 20 minute jam session on the features, allowing plenty of time to try new tricks, combos, and variations. The riding in all categories was tight; judging was definitely not easy, and the smallest of margins ended up separating placements in many categories. Everyone was killing it!
A big thanks to all the competitors who came out with a mission despite the weather, as well as our SFTC Sponsors – Alpine Ski Shop, Smith Optics, Armada, POW, GNU/Libtech, Saga, Skullcandy, Neff, STZ, Dakine, Volcom, Electric, Skullcandy, and Polarmax.
See you all January 26 for the Big Air!
