Sunday’s SPY Super Session was so sick, sporting sunny skies, soft snow, and some straight silly contests! Alliteration aside, the Super Session went off Opening Sunday – with a nice laid back atmosphere; simply like a day in the park – only better.
The change in snow level from Opening Day to Sunday was remarkable –grass spots that were being filled in on Saturday were now buried under feet of snow. The ATP crew took advantage and put an entirely new setup together, consisting of a new edition to our “Library” series – a 24’ Down Library Rail, the 20’ Culvert, a 16’ Down Box, a 16’ Down Rail, ATP’s new mailbox (20’), the trusty 24’ Trap Box, a 18’ Down Rail, and a Kicker Box / Dog House combo option.
Snowmaking was in progress until just before noon – perfect timing for the SPY crew to set up and get the grill ignited for the hot dogs and one-of-a-kind hot dog bar, complete with toppings for your dog ranging from white chocolate to syrup to beef jerky.
As the sun poked out and started warming things up, riders began following suit. The format was very laid back, no hassle with registration, no pressure, just a good crew of riders hitting any and all of the new setup. Everyone was killing the newly fabricated features – it was hard to keep up with all the combos and variations going down.
A few standouts from the session were hooked up with SPY prize packs, and after awards, the SPY Crew awarded some goggles to the winner of their custom Yellow Snow Weiner Dive, where two riders went head to head trying to find hot dogs buried in trash bins of yellow snow.
All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better day – thanks to all the riders and the guys at SPY for capping off a great opening weekend.
Look for features to be popping up in both Appaljack and Appal Jam this week, and mark the ole’ calendars for ATP’s annual Christmas Fresh Friday, this Friday Night!
